1 Plus 1

Reagan had some school time today. She loves learning so much, and is so curious and excited to learn new things! Today we read a couple of books that she picked out; The Little Engine That Could, about trying your best, and Sesame Street Post Office, about how the postal system works. Then we did some math! Reagan counts well, although only to 10. She knows some other numbers, she just doesn't know where they all go or anything. lol We've introduced board games to her, and she loves playing Hi Ho Cherry-O, which deals with basic addition and subtraction (up to 10). She knows 1 plus 1 as well. So today we tried doing addition on the white board, and she got it!! We did 1+1, 2+1, 3+1 etc. She picked up what = meant very quickly, and really seemed to get the idea that each number on the number line, and as you count is 1 more than the last one. She had to do some counting on her fingers, and my fingers of course, but made it through to 10. She continues to amaze me on a daily basis. Her ability to store and recall new information is amazing. We've been watching the Baby Genius Trip to the San Diego Zoo over and over for days now, and each time she knows more animal names than the last. :-) That, and how happy it makes her, totally make it worth watching it continuously.
